The Model Air range contains over 235 colors; all pre-thinned for airbrushing and designed especially for Miniature and Model painting. Vallejo has recruited the help and advice of some of the world’s best modelers to include the specific colors employed for all types of uniforms, vehicles, aircraft and other military models. Those colors which have corresponding Federal Standard, RAL and RLM equivalencies are so identified. Model Air has the highest concentration of pigment in any water-based formula; all colors are opaque and lightfast.
HOW TO APPLYThe formula of Model Air allows for an extremely uniform and smooth finish. Colors may also be diluted with other Mediums for glazes and layered applications. It is recommended to apply the colors on a surface that has first been primed. The colors dry rapidly and form a self-leveling finish which is equally perfect for large surfaces or small parts as the coat will not obscure even the most miniature details of the model. SUBSTRATESThe water-based formula of Model Air has been specifically developed for extraordinary adherence on surfaces such as plastics, polyesters and metal. The paints are non-toxic, non-flammable, and emit no noxious fumes. Errors can be easily corrected immediately with water or alcohol. DRYING AND FINISHING TIMEModel Air dries quickly to a matte, even and waterproof finish. The exact drying time depends on the temperature, altitude and humidity of the environment, on the surface which has been painted, and on the thickness of the paint layer. Although the colors are dry to the touch within minutes, the water content keeps on evaporating, and the paint does not acquire its true permanence until several weeks after application. PRIMER HOW-TOVallejo Surface Primers are true acrylic primers designed for airbrushing a foundation color on virtually any surface to improve the adhesion of your paint. Produced in common primer colors and base coats, Vallejo Surface Primer will work on plastics, metals, resins, sealed woods, and PVC. This product will not obscure the finest details. Vallejo Surface Primers are formulated to airbrush at 15-20 psi (0.5-1.0 kg) straight from the bottle. They can be thinned with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner or Vallejo Flow Improver if desired. Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner is perfect for clean-up. |
